Unpaid pilots are a failure mode, not a sales motion

An unpaid pilot is usually a way to postpone the only question that matters: will this team put real data, a real owner, and a real definition of correct in front of a system?

Free workshops produce slides. Rented corpora produce demos. Both can look like progress in a steering committee. Neither tells you whether the retrieval path holds on the files the operator actually uses at 11 p.m.

HIVE Bootcamp is a scoped engagement because commitment is a filter. It buys five days on the customer’s corpus, in the environment they named, with one workflow and one owner. Friday is a working path, eval notes, and a production proposal — or a short no. Commercial terms are scoped after intake. There is no public price list.

Teams that cannot afford theater already burned money on a prototype. They do not need another discovery phase. They need a system that cites, a gate that holds, and a record another machine can verify.

Deploy is typically 6–10 weeks after that Friday: Knolo plus one system. Run is Hive Forensics operating, evaluating, and improving it. The sequence is the product. Skipping to a 12-month SOW from a slide is how you inherit a maintenance grenade.

Advisory review exists for buyers who are not ready to put data in a bootcamp. It is secondary. If the first sentence on a vendor site is “book a call,” you are not looking at an operator company.

We refuse brochure chatbot shops and unpaid “let’s explore together.” That is not arrogance. It is how the work stays evidence-grade.

If this is your failure mode, Bootcamp is the next step — not a newsletter.
